Apple crumble with vanilla cream and cinnamon topping

A warm apple crumble with cinnamon topping, served with creamy vanilla whipped cream.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (packed)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
How To Do
  • 1.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a small ovenproof dish.
  • 2.
In a bowl, mix the diced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until the apples are evenly coated. Place the apple mixture into the greased dish.
  • 3.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and use your fingers or a fork to mix until it forms a crumbly texture. Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  • 4.
Bake the crumble for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy, and the apples are soft and bubbly.
  • 5.
While the crumble bakes, whisk the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar in a bowl until soft peaks form. Keep it chilled until serving.
  • 6.
Once the crumble is done, let it cool for 5-10 minutes. Add a generous dollop of the freshly whipped vanilla cream on top of the warm crumble, and dust with extra cinnamon if desired. Enjoy!
